Recently Nathan successfully completed the MGIT ICT50415 Diploma of Information Technology Networking (with Microsoft MCSA and CISCO CCNA Certification Pathways). On top of the Diploma Nathan also completed the Cisco CCNA exam with MGIT and achieved one of the highest grades in MGIT history. We sat down with Nathan to discuss what his experience was like with MGIT and what studying with us was all about.
Bryan: Hi Nathan, How long were you at MGIT?
Nathan: I completed the Diploma of I.T Networking full-time over a 12 month period.
Bryan: How did you find travelling to MGIT in Parramatta everyday? Was it easy to get to?
Nathan: Definitely, Parramatta station is not far at all. Up the elevator and you’re there, it’s not far at all. It’s very easy.
Bryan: How did you find the teachers here?
Nathan: They were nice, they were easy to talk to and if you’re really keen on what you’re doing they’ll help you and push you into it and it’s very good.
Bryan: Who was your teacher at MGIT?
Nathan: I had Salim he was a great teacher who was extremely knowledgeable and really expressed his passion for I.T in his teaching.
Bryan: How did you find the pacing of the course throughout the year? How was the workload?
Nathan: The course would be suitable for anyone who has a keen interest in I.T, it was well planned and wasn’t too fast, it didn’t drag on at all.
Bryan: For people who don’t really know what the CCNA is about, what is it and why did you choose to do it?
Nathan: CCNA stands for Cisco Certified Network Associate and it’s basically just behind the scenes of how everything can work and connect and be secure. The reason I liked it so much was because it was just fun to do and I’m pretty excited to hopefully start a job in the industry soon enough.
Bryan: What type of jobs are you going to be looking for now that you have finished do you think?
Nathan: I am looking forward to further my education and do more advanced topics with my CCNA and higher level qualifications such as CCNP.
Bryan: What is the CCNP?
Nathan: It stands for Cisco Certified Network Professional and there’s another one, Cisco Certified Internet Expert.
Bryan: Do you feel that doing a CCNA with MGIT gave you what you need to get a job in your field?
Bryan: Who do you recommend should do this course? Do you need to be a beginner in IT or advanced?
Nathan: Anyone can do it. I didn’t have any IT experience before, just do it if you want to, just do it.
